ERTRAC conference 2011- "Implementing the Strategic Research Agenda"

ERTRAC, The European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC) is the European Technology Platform (ETP) for Road Transport and represents over 50 members. Thus a holistic perspective is gained from all stakeholders of the road transport system.

The aim of ERTRAC is to devise strategies and roadmaps, creating strategic vision in R&D for the Road Transport Sector in Europe and to improve the global competitiveness of EU transport industries. Clearly ERTRAC shares parallel aims with EASN in the broader sense of promoting the competitiveness of the European automotive industry and as a result natural relationships between the two associations are developing.

On 1st of March in Brussels the first of the 2011 ERTRAC Plenary Assembly is taking place with a special session featuring national technology platforms. EASN will be presenting on the technological activities that occur at regional level, offering suggestions on how future cooperation at European level can occur and the opportunities that exist through synergising cluster knowledge.

ERTRAC’s 2011 conference (which is an open session) is being held the following day, 2nd March in Brussels. The focal theme is a debate of the Research and Innovation roadmaps in preparation of implementing the new ERTRAC SRA. The areas of decarbonisation, innovation for safety and competitiveness and reliability of the transport system are all being discussed with industry panellists leading the debates.

To register for the conference email Info@ertrac.org

"The evolution of the supply chain in the automotive industry"

The significant transformation occurring in the automotive supply chain is a hot discussion point. A cocktail of factors; technology advancements, market trends, changes to government regulations and the ever fierce threat of international competition can be held responsible for the industry’s new mobility needs; however the outcomes of this transformation for Europe’s automotive sector are more difficult to define.

Clearly the alterations occurring within the automotive industry presents Europe with new opportunities, but at the same time significant challenges will arise as this new competitive landscape unravels. A new composite of economic actors within the supply chain will be demanded.

The CLEPA event debating “The evolution of the Supply Chain in the Automotive Industry” on February 9th in Brussels organised by the Anticipation of Change Partnership and to signify the re-launch of the Cars 21 High Level Group is exemplar in stimulating new interactions between economic actors with its roundtable debates including representatives from all stakeholder groups.

Kishor Pala will be speaking on behalf of EASN, offering a “grass roots”, Tier 2 sme perspective to the debate.

Find a full agenda of this event at: http://www.clepa.eu/index.php?id=514
